Abyot Boru purchased Shakiso washing station in 2011 to create more opportunity for local farmers to share their coffee with the world.
Why we love this coffee
After bringing his own coffee cherries to various washing stations, purchasing a mill gave him more of a voice in the local coffee trade. His station now serves 700 smallholder farmers in the Oromia region of Ethiopia, where Abyot’s father was a coffee farmer. A lifelong advocate of Ethiopian coffee, Abyot is said to have coffee in his blood; that passion is reflected in this cup, a particularly striking lot, sun-dried in the Ethiopian tradition with flavours of ripe red fruit and cassis.
About Starbucks Reserve® coffee
Our constant travels around the world take us in search of small-lot coffees that are distinctive enough to earn our Starbucks Reserve® label. Each coffee is one-of-a-kind—sourced from small coffee-growing regions in Latin America, Africa and Asia / Pacific Islands.
All Starbucks Reserve® coffees are roasted with care, at our Starbucks Reserve® Roastery and Tasting Room in Seattle, to bring out their peak flavour expression. They are available in limited supply in select Starbucks® stores or delivered to you.
