This is a serious cup. Big. Bold. Syrupy, complex and refined. A coffee that means Chicago to us.

When we opened our first stores there in 1987, we wanted to introduce a blend that would honour the city, and this is it. Our master coffee blenders brought together the heft of beans from Latin America and Indonesia with a bit of roasty sweetness from our dark Italian Roast. Creating a taste every bit as sophisticated as the neighborhood we named it after. And hearty enough to go up against the famously bitter winters.

A Better Cup

We’re committed to ethically sourcing and roasting the highest-quality arabica coffee in the world. When we buy coffee this way, it fosters a better future for farmers, and a more stable climate for the planet. It also helps create a long-term supply of the high-quality beans we’ve been carefully blending, roasting and packing fresh for more than 40 years.

Recipe for great coffee

  1. Use cold, filtered water and a clean machine.
  2. Grind beans just before brewing:
    • Coarse for coffee press
    • Medium for automatic drip
  3. Measure 10 g (2 tbsp) ground coffee for every 180 ml (6 fl oz) water.

To help preserve that fresh flavour, keep this bag sealed tight in a cabinet (not in the refrigerator) and brew within a week of opening.

Each coffee requires slightly different amounts of time and temperature during the roasting process to create a cup at its peak of aroma, acidity, body and flavour. We classify our coffees in three roast profiles so you can easily find your desired flavour and intensity.

  • Blonde: Blonde-roasted coffees have a shorter roast time, lighter body and mellow flavours.
  • Medium: Medium-roasted coffees are balanced with smooth and rich flavours.
  • Dark: Dark-roasted coffees feature a fuller body and robust, bold flavours.

I LOVE this coffee!

By Heather Lynn

Comments about Starbucks Gold Coast Blend, Whole Bean:

I use this blend for iced coffee. I have a thing for strong coffee and Gold Coast blend hits the spot perfectly. I wouldn't change a thing.

Love this blend

By DailyPlanet

from Cobourg, Ontario

Comments about Starbucks Gold Coast Blend, Whole Bean:

Started drinking Gold Coast Blend years ago when Starbucks discontinued my former favourite - "Arabian Mocha Java".

This dark roast is mellow, hearty and satisfies that "ohmigawd, I needed this!" voice in my head (one of many).

Now if Starbucks would just open a local store in Cobourg, Ontario I'd be happy!
