This exquisite blend is our tribute to the birthplace of coffee. Enjoy it hot or over ice.

On the ancient slopes flanking Africa's Great Rift Valley, coffee trees first emerged from the rich, volcanic soil. From these ninth-century highlands arabica coffee beans began their long journey from Ethiopia to the rest of the world. Today our master roasters have created an entirely new way to experience these treasured beans, honoring Ethiopia's bountiful legacy with a coffee blend cherished for its floral aromas, spice notes, and distinctive flavour that’s as enjoyable iced as it is hot. Brewed cold or double strength then served over ice, this coffee is your recipe for refreshment.

A Better Cup

We're committed to ethically sourcing and roasting the highest-quality arabica coffee in the world. When we buy coffee this way, it fosters a better future for farmers, and a more stable climate for the planet. It also helps create a long-term supply of the high-quality beans we've been carefully blending, roasting and packing fresh for more than 40 years.

Recipe for great coffee

  1. Use cold, filtered water and a clean machine.
  2. Grind beans just before brewing:
    • Coarse for coffee press
    • Medium for automatic drip
  3. Measure 10 g (2 tbsp) ground coffee for every 180 ml (6 fl oz) water.

To brew iced coffee:

  • Brew double strength—use the same amount of coffee for a full pot but with half the water.
    • Measure 10 g (2 tbsp) ground coffee for every 90 ml (3 fl oz) water.
    • After brewing, slowly pour the coffee into a pitcher filled with ice. Serve fresh over ice.

To help preserve that fresh flavour, keep this bag sealed tight in a cabinet (not in the refrigerator) and brew within a week of opening.

Each coffee requires slightly different amounts of time and temperature during the roasting process to create a cup at its peak of aroma, acidity, body and flavor. We classify our coffees in three roast profiles so you can easily find your desired flavour and intensity.

  • Blonde: Blonde-roasted coffees have a shorter roast time, lighter body and mellow flavours.
  • Medium: Medium-roasted coffees are balanced with smooth and rich flavours.
  • Dark: Dark-roasted coffees feature a fuller body and robust, bold flavours.

Comments about Starbucks Ethiopia, Whole Bean:

We prefer dark roasts but this is an excellent blend which should appeal to dark or medium tastes.

My absolute favorite coffee from Starbucks and also other brands I have not tasted one I like more! No bitterness, roasted perfectly and full of flavor. It's smooth and lively with noticeable cocoa notes.

Comments about Starbucks Ethiopia, Whole Bean:

This medium roast coffee has nothing but bold taste. I often compare this to the Casi Cielo just in a lighter version.

Upon first sip you will fall in love with the rich flavours and sensations this roast brings. Just a hint of dark chocolate with some earthy tones makes you come back for more.

Why not enjoy a nice chocolate chip cookie or piece of fudge to enhance the taste

Comments about Starbucks Ethiopia, Whole Bean:

Best bold coffee yet. Strong coffee flavour, smokey undertones, and no bitterness. My new favourite (when it's being brewed, which hasn't been often enough).

A nice creamy taste even with only 1% milk in it, no need to add cream. Will buy again.
